Summer is dangerous for teen drivers

The period between Memorial Day and Labor Day is dangerous for teen drivers on Ohio roads. This is because roads and highways will be busier with inexperienced motorists traveling to parties and vacation destinations. Parents are encouraged to teach their kids about how to stay safe while on the road. For example, parents should talk about the dangers of texting and driving at the same time.

Furthermore, teenagers should never be allowed to drive when they are tired or if they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This is also a good idea for adults who plan on driving. Unfortunately, there may be more drinking going on during summer get-togethers. As teen drivers tend to be less experienced, it may not be safe for them to drive at night or with multiple passengers in the car with them.

It's also wise to regularly check a teen's vehicle to ensure that it's in good condition. Finally, it's critical that everyone who is behind the wheel of a vehicle uses a seat belt. In fact, everyone who is in a vehicle should be buckled up at all times. Teens who are passengers should also make sure not to be a distraction to the driver.

Anyone who is involved in a motor vehicle crash could experience injuries to their neck, back or other body parts. These injuries often require medical attention in the weeks and months after the accident. Someone who has been hurt by a negligent driver may be entitled to compensation for medical bills and other costs. Punitive damages might also be available depending on the details of a given car accident case. Legal counsel could help a crash victim file a personal injury claim.
