Turn Your Crash Into CASH!

Delayed pain may result from a car crash

You remember being involved in a motor vehicle collision a few days ago, but immediately following the collision, you felt relatively okay. After all, your crash did not occur at a high rate of speed. Your head simply moved in a backward-and-forward motion. You also remember taking notes while at the accident scene, as well as collecting the personal information of the driver who caused your crash as a result of negligent driving. Then, you continued with your day.

Now, though, you are beginning to feel some discomfort in your body. You immediately realize that the car accident did indeed cause you injuries -- those injuries were simply delayed. Fortunately, you have the right to seek compensation for such injuries in Ohio.

Pain in your neck and head

If you suffer a headache after your car crash, it is a wise move to have a doctor check you out right away. This is because post-crash headaches may be indicators of blood clots, concussions, brain injuries, neck injuries or whiplash. In addition, if you are experiencing discomfort in the neck or shoulder area, you might have suffered a spine injury -- such as a herniated disk -- or whiplash.

Abdominal pain

You may also feel pain in the abdominal area a few days following the accident. In this situation, it is important to have a doctor examine you, as soft tissue injuries may be quite serious. Furthermore, internal bleeding may lead to dizziness, deep bruising and headaches.

Perhaps you are experiencing numbness, weak limbs or a tingling sensation in your body following your crash. In this situation, you might be suffering a herniated disc. If your disc is pinching your spinal nerves, it is paramount that you seek medical treatment right away.

Pain and suffering

A few days, or even weeks, after the accident, you may suffer from anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder or depression. You may experience these mental and emotional challenges due to the crash itself or because of the physical trauma the accident caused you. In addition, injuries to your brain might cause you to experience personality changes that are difficult for you to cope with.

Your rights following an injury-causing car crash

If a fellow motorist's negligence has resulted in delayed injuries to you, you have the right to file a personal injury claim, seeking damages. If you prevail in your suit, you might receive a judicial award of financial damages. The monetary compensation cannot undo those events leading up to your crash, but it might make it easier for you to move forward from the ordeal.
